Abu Dhabi: The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has announced the adaptation of the famous Emirati social drama series “Ashhafan” into a theatrical performance.
Supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and in collaboration with Akasa Media Consultancy and Studies, this initiative features actors from the original series along with a talented group of people of determination and Emirati actors.
“Ashhafan,” a beloved series from 1976, is being transformed into a nostalgic yet contemporary theatrical work. At a press conference held at ZHO headquarters, Secretary-General Abdullah Al Humaidan, representatives from Akasa Media Production, participating artists, and organisation leaders unveiled details of this project.
The play, directed by Mohamed Saeed and written by Abdullah Saleh, stars both veteran and new actors. The cast includes Mohamed Yassin, Ahmed Mangoush, Adel Al Buainain, Jassem Obaid, Rayhana Al Nimri, Razeqa Tarash, Ahood Al Nuaimi, Ahmed Malallah, Reem Suleiman, Noura Al Abed, and talented individuals from people of determination.
“Ashhafan Family” addresses contemporary challenges facing Gulf and Arab families, highlighting social media’s impact on daily life. The storyline revolves around family members with different inclinations, showing how these affect their personal and professional lives.
The ZHO emphasises that this theatrical work aims to revive beloved characters and enhance Emirati culture by showcasing the UAE’s cultural and social heritage. It also focuses on people of determination, promoting inclusion and diversity in society.
Akasa Media Consultancy and Studies, the executive producer, describes the play as a contemporary vision of life, blending awareness messages and comedic elements while maintaining the spirit of the original work.
ZHO’s initiative, “Talented Determination,” aims to discover and nurture the talents of people of determination in various arts, providing an environment for them to compete globally.
