Abu Dhabi: The Higher Organising Committee for Global Media Congress (GMC), a one-of-a-kind event uniting the global media industry organized by ADNEC in collaboration with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), has introduced ‘Global Programme for the Empowerment of Young Media Persons,’ the largest training program of its kind.
The program will be organized in tandem with the inaugural Global Media Congress (GMC), which is set to take place from the 15th of November to the 17th.
300 young journalists from around the world will be invited by the UAE’s official news agency to participate in various sessions. Over two dozen programs at the Congress will give young writers in-depth training in a variety of skills and vocations, including fact-checking, metaverse, script writing, battling disinformation, audio content creation, and a lot of other crucial topics.
The event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, will feature an exhibition and a focused conference on the most recent advancements and the future of the media industry.
“It was aimed at imparting knowledge to the next generation of media professionals on the latest technological and innovative advancements in the field of media. We do not look at it as a one-time initiative. Our objective is to sponsor similar participation in the subsequent editions of the Global Media Congress. We have lined up around 30 workshops whose attendees will learn the most important techniques and skills required for young people looking for a bright future in the media industry.” – Mr. Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, highlighted.
Mr. Al Rayssi pointed out that in a globalized world, the fair transmission of knowledge and expertise is essential to establishing a level playing field, which was the justification for inviting journalists from a variety of nations and continents.
“We consider it our moral duty that we provide rich exposure to the young men and women who will land in Abu Dhabi at our invitation. Our hope is that they will return to their respective countries with the feeling that they have had a fruitful learning experience, which they can put to good use in their workplaces, thereby contributing to the growth of the media sector in their countries. The UAE has always accorded the highest priority to its role as a global citizen in diverse domains. We are emulating the same model in the field of media. We look forward to interacting with such a big group of young journalists representing multiple platforms, countries, continents and cultural and linguistic backgrounds,” Mr. Al Rayssi concluded.
In order to support the growth of the media sector, ensure its long-term sustainability, and continue delivering strong, trustworthy, and highly credible content, the conference offers an opportunity for diverse media institutions to explore alliances and cooperative projects.
The event will feature speeches from media leaders from all over the world on a variety of topics pertaining to the media industry’s future.
