Abu Dhabi: 1 Billion Meals, an initiative spearheaded by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) to provide food support to the underprivileged and undernourished population in 50 nations across the globe, has begun distributing foodstuffs, food parcels in Lebanon, India, Jordan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Initiative, launched at the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, has partnered with the Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN), the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH) to commence food distribution in the 4 countries.
FBRN has already begun distributing long-term food items and food parcels with storable ingredients to the beneficiaries of the 1 Billion Meals initiative. Meanwhile, MBRCH is spearheading the circulation of food parcels containing basic staples such as flour, rice, oil, sugar and dates to beneficiaries.
The Initiative, in partnership with relevant local authorities in beneficiary countries, is providing the needy with basic necessities required to prepare nutritious meals or instant electronic vouchers for food supplies
This coordination ensures the efficiency of distribution operations and, by taking advantage of technology applications, also provides direct access to the communities most in need based on comprehensive and accurate databases.
