Bangkok: The UAE National Youth Muay Thai Team won 9 medals at the 2024 IFMA Youth World Championships, which came to an end on Friday in Bangkok.
The event was coordinated by the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA), and saw strong competition from 3,000 athletes representing 92 countries.The UAE team overall secured one gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals.
The team’s outstanding performer, Aziz Al Hammadi, won a gold medal in the 12-13 age category, 48kg weight class.
Ahmed Abu Geish also showcased an excellent performance, securing a silver medal in the 12-13 age category, 63kg weight class. The bronze medalists included Rakan Ahmed, Saeed Al Mazrouei, Saeed Ahmed, Mariam Al Suwaidi, Jasser Ahmed, and Khaled Suleiman. In the Muay May competition for the 14-15 age group, Ahmed Abu Jeish and Mohammed Karim added to the UAE’s medal tally by earning bronze.
Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federation and Chairman of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, expressed his gratification at the team’s achievements, bolstering their commitment and perseverance at the international event.
The UAE’s success at the 2024 IFMA Youth World Championships pointed out a key milestone for the nation in the world of Muay Thai.
