Abu Dhabi: UAE Visa Amnesty Rules Updated by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), now require a valid work permit for individuals wishing to stay in the UAE after using the amnesty scheme. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) confirmed that companies can quickly obtain work permits for workers, which will be considered the only valid document. Offer letters alone will not be accepted as proof of residence continuation.
To regularize residency, a job visa is mandatory. Considering the significance of the amnesty, MOHRE has introduced fast-track services for issuing work permits. Employers are now able to secure permits for employees in a shorter time.
A valid work permit serves as confirmation of legal employment and is essential for staying in the UAE. Applicants can process their work permits through the MOHRE website, smart applications, business service offices, or recruitment offices for domestic workers. Permit renewals and cancellations can also be managed through these platforms.
The UAE visa amnesty offers exemptions from penalties for illegal residency. However, authorities have warned that failing to secure a new work permit after benefiting from the amnesty could result in severe consequences. Hundreds have already taken advantage of the amnesty in the past four days.
