Abu Dhabi: Extending their existing warm relations to other verticals, the  UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The MoU, which was signed by Mr. Mubarak Al Nakhi, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, and Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, will facilitate for cooperation in culture encompassing antiquities, heritage, arts and libraries among the countries.

Through the agreement, the two countries will support cultural and creative industries and talented people, exchange knowledge, encourage a better understanding of each other’s culture, and activate cultural dialogue and meetings to foster a greater national identity among each other’s peoples.

The MoU will offer opportunities for both countries to share experiences, information and expertise in the fields of culture, including antiquities, heritage, arts, libraries, cultural and creative industries and the study of each other’s culture, language, literature, arts and heritage.

Cooperation between libraries and participation in cultural and artistic activities and events in the two countries is also expected to be boosted by the MoU.

Sharing his remarks at the occasion, Mr. Al Nakhi highlighted the critical nature of cultural convergence between different people and promoting dialogue. The UAE Official also pointed out the importance of the cultural and creative industries and how they should be a national priority in economic development.

By signing the agreement, both UAE and Vietnam will try to exchange experiences to facilitate the implementation of international agreements under inter-governmental agencies such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and other international conventions related to antiquities, heritage, arts and libraries, cultural and creative industries and support for talented people.

It also encourages an exchange of books and publications, participation in activities and events related to antiquities, heritage, arts and libraries.

The UAE, Vietnam will also seek to protect intellectual property rights. The Duo has also agreed to host cultural events, facilitate public participation in such events and cooperate in the sustainability of cultural and creative industries.
