Abu Dhabi: UAE is all set to celebrate the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day on the 20th of April 2022, the 19th Day of Ramadan, coinciding with the death anniversary of the Founding Leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Since the demise of Sheikh Zayed, the country has been celebrating Zayed Humanitarian Work Day to honor the legacy of the great leader while continuing his journey of giving to the needy.
The special day also is an annual occasion to unveil numerous important humanitarian and charity initiatives through hundreds of official community events.
Sheikh Zayed, the principal driving force behind the formation of the UAE was a symbol of giving and facilitated relief aid to needy people around the world. Due to his substantial efforts, the UAE has gained an important regional and international humanitarian stature.
Ever since its establishment in 1971, the UAE has been a model of humanitarian philanthropy and has adopted the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed. The Abu Dhabi Development Fund (ADFD), an important driver of sustainable development for underprivileged countries, was established in 1971, while the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation (ZayedCHF) was founded in 1992.
Sheikh Zayed was keen to institutionalize the foreign aid sector to improve its efficiency and promote responsibility. 40+ donors, and humanitarian and charity foundations have been established in the UAE to provide services worldwide.
The value of development and humanitarian aid provided by the UAE from 1971 to 2004 to nearly 117 countries has been close to $24.64 billion.
The late Sheikh Zayed has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions across the globe, in appreciation of his services to humanity.
