Abu Dhabi: The UAE Cybersecurity Council, on account with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), has announced the inaugural “CyberQ: Security in the Quantum Era” conference, set to be hosted on 12th and 13th November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
This innovative event will hold together international cybersecurity experts, key policymakers, and industry leaders to raise the significant challenges posed by the quantum age.
CyberQ is designed to lead discussions on preparing for and mitigating quantum-era cybersecurity threats and bolster the UAE’s position as a leader in quantum-safe security solutions.
Dr Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, highlighted the importance of the event, stating that, “Under the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, CyberQ comes to the forefront as we are set to unveil three additional cybersecurity strategies by year-end. These strategies will showcase advanced technologies such as cloud and data security, the Internet of Things, and Cybersecurity Operations Centers. The UAE is committed to being the pioneer of advanced technologies and AI.”
Dr. Al-Kuwaiti further revealed that the executive regulations for the Encryption Law, crucial for verifying secure quantum-compatible data transmissions, are expected to be released by the end of the year. Al-Kuwaiti added that, “Our ambition is to foster the UAE as a global data hub, which requires robust laws and strong partnerships across public and private sectors.”
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute, highlighted the dual nature of quantum computing. Najwa Aaraj remarked that, “Quantum computers indulge in solving complex problems at unprecedented speeds. However, they also pose a significant alert to traditional encryption methods. At TII, we’re committed to developing next-generation cryptographic and quantum communication technologies to keep sensitive information from future threats like the ‘Store Now, Decrypt Later’ strategy.”
The two-day CyberQ conference will feature:
- Keynote speeches by world-renowned quantum computing and cybersecurity experts.
- Panel discussions exploring the implications of quantum technologies on current security protocols.
- Workshops on implementing quantum-safe cryptographic solutions.
- Networking opportunities with industry leaders and policymakers.
- Live demonstrations of cutting-edge quantum-safe technologies.
This event marks a pivotal landmark in global cybersecurity, focusing on addressing the evolving landscape shaped by quantum computing and its impact on digital security.
