Abu Dhabi: UAE Team Emirates celebrated two significant victories despite facing challenges in the Vuelta España. Following the withdrawal of João Almeida from the race, Adam Yates delivered a remarkable performance, securing a win on the queen stage from Motril to Granada (178.5km).
Yates joined an early breakaway, supported by teammates Marc Soler and Jay Vine. He launched a solo attack 60km from the finish on the Hazallanas climb, widening his lead on the steep gradients.
Yates crossed the finish line in Granada with a comfortable margin, leading by 3 minutes and 45 seconds over his General Classification (GC) rivals. This victory has elevated Yates to 7th place overall, reducing the gap to the red jersey, currently held by Ben O’Connor (Decathlon-AG2R), who leads by 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
In France, Marc Hirschi also made headlines by winning the Bretagne Classic, adding to his recent triumph at the San Sebastian Classic. Hirschi’s solo effort held off the chasing peloton, securing his second consecutive victory in a one-day World Tour classic.
