Dubai: A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Oman Sea at 12:14 PM on Sunday, according to the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM). The tremor occurred near the Dibba coastline, close to the UAE-Oman border, at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Residents within a 5-kilometer radius reported feeling the tremors. However, the NCM confirmed that the earthquake did not impact the UAE, and no damage or injuries were reported.
This event follows a series of minor earthquakes in the region. On June 8, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Masafi at 11:01 PM. Earlier, on May 29, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the Ras Al Khaimah coast at 12:12 AM, followed by a 2.8 magnitude tremor at 1:53 AM. Additionally, a mild 1.9 magnitude earthquake occurred on May 17 in the Al Halah area of Fujairah.
Seismology experts have reassured residents that while the UAE experiences occasional tremors, there is no cause for concern about significant seismic activity in the region.
