Abu Dhabi: Building on COP29 in Baku, the UAE announced its dynamic pavilion for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Centered on the theme “Our Land, Our Future,” the UAE Pavilion will host over 20 discussions addressing land degradation neutrality, drought resilience, sustainable agri-food systems, climate adaptation, and inclusive land governance.
Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to regenerating ecosystems and tackling land degradation through innovation inspired by its arid environment.
Dr Amna highlighted that, “At COP16, we aim to share UAE expertise, foster collaboration, and drive global resilience efforts,” expressing gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting the event.
Located in the Blue Zone, the pavilion will reflect the UAE’s sustainability legacy, spotlighting transformative solutions for land and water management and food systems. Programming will feature public and private sector experts addressing climate challenges while emphasizing youth engagement and collaboration.
