Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has facilitated a new exchange of captives between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, resulting in the release of 190 individuals. This fetches the total number of captives exchanged through UAE mediation to 2,184.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) complimented both countries for their cooperation and responsiveness, which were pivotal in the success of this latest exchange despite the ongoing challenges posed by the dispute.
The successful mediation highlights the growing trust that both the Russian Federation and Ukraine place in the UAE, admitting its efforts to foster a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis. The MoFA underscored that this exchange observes the ninth successful mediation by the UAE in 2024 alone, showcasing the friendly and cooperative relations the UAE maintains with both nations.
