New York: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting, held on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The gathering included foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS countries), along with representatives from invited countries.
Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE BRICS Sherpa, participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
UAE’s involvement highlights its commitment to promoting multilateral cooperation, stressing that united international efforts are essential for tackling current challenges and creating a pathway toward a more prosperous future.
During the meeting, UAE Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation among BRICS nations to address pressing global challenges, including climate change, economic instability, and food security. He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and fostering partnerships that support economic growth and resilience in the face of global uncertainties.
Ahmed Al Sayegh conveyed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its leadership as the BRICS chair this year and recognized Brazil’s efforts in organizing and chairing the meeting. He stressed the significance of fostering effective partnerships within the international community to promote constructive dialogue and advance mutual objectives.
Al Sayegh also highlighted the UAE’s successful approach to economic cooperation, stressing that, “This unique experience has demonstrated that the language of economics is the most effective means of building bridges and turning differences into collaboration and prosperity.”
The BRICS meeting served as a platform for reinforcing existing alliances and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
