Dubai: In line with the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of Community Development and Etihad Water & Electricity have unveiled a support program to assist low-income farm owners in the UAE.
Commencing from July 2023, the program will allocate an annual amount of $2,268 per beneficiary, equivalent to a maximum monthly consumption of 2,500 KW/H. Eligible beneficiaries can verify their monthly support amount by referring to their farms’ consumption bill through Etihad Water & Electricity’s service channels.
The Ministry will collaborate with Etihad Water & Electricity to regularly update and validate the approved lists of beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive text messages containing essential details and an application form that needs to be completed. They can also register through the Ministry of Community Development’s website. The support program is open to eligible low-income farm owners registered in federal or local social welfare programs.

Notably, farms used for commercial purposes will not qualify for this support, and farm owners should not be receiving additional electricity consumption assistance for any of their owned farms. In the case of multiple farms owned by a beneficiary, they must ensure that their data is updated with Etihad Water & Electricity before applying for the support program through the Ministry.
Upon finalizing and approving the list of beneficiaries, the Ministry will directly transfer the deducted amount to Etihad Water & Electricity. The support funds will be automatically deducted from the monthly electricity bill of the farm, streamlining the process for beneficiaries.
