Dubai: The inaugural Biohack Summit in the Middle East and Asia will be hosted by Dubai on May 30th and 31st, 2023. The event is organized by the UAE Genetic Diseases Association and Limoverse, a leading Web 3 health platform, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and President of the UAE Genetic Diseases Association.
The summit’s objective is to provide individuals with scientific research, clinical expertise, and practical tools to empower them in safeguarding their health and well-being. Through the utilization of technology, virtual communication, and leveraging the global medical network, participants will be equipped to navigate the challenges posed by the abundance of information and conflicting facts. Particularly for individuals within the general community, determining the credibility and source of information can be challenging. The concept of hacking human biology encompasses the application of scientifically validated methods and tools.
Physician and geneticist Dr. Maryam Matar, Founder and Chair of the Sheikh Zayed Centre for Genetic Research, stated that, “In line with the health track of the country’s strategy and vision, the event will stimulate an environment of innovation in the field of health and wellness, support many government initiatives and integrated practices to use modern scientific tools, and significantly contribute to creating a healthy population.”
The UAE Genetic Diseases Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of genes in newborns and promoting the scientific understanding of epigenetics, as well as control methods. This mission aims to discourage genetic mutations associated with modern diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, immune system disorders, and neurological disorders.
By implementing preventive awareness programs and conducting research-based examinations, the association strives to prevent the spread and impact of genetic disorders prevalent in the UAE. The efforts involve knowledge exchange and collaboration with experts in the field, utilizing innovative and cost-effective technologies. A volunteer group of experts from renowned institutions such as Harvard University, Oxford University, King Abdulaziz University, Dasman Diabetes Centre, Sultan Qaboos University, and Ain Shams University supervises and conducts scientifically referenced therapeutic research.
