Dubai: The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that those leaving the country under the UAE general amnesty will not face a lifetime ban.
They can return to the UAE at any time with a valid visa. In contrast, in some GCC countries, if someone leaves under a general amnesty after violating visa regulations, they are not allowed to return later. However, the UAE only imposed temporary restrictions during the last amnesty.
The amnesty allows violators of residency visa regulations to avoid fines and legal actions entirely. Those who regularize their visa documents will also have the opportunity to stay in the country. ICP has instructed immigration advisors and social workers to conduct awareness campaigns encouraging visa violators to make the most of the amnesty. Additionally, the directive includes assurances that illegal residents will not face any future bans.
Those who obtain a new residence visa or job offer letter can return even if they leave the country under the amnesty. They can apply for a residency visa as soon as their documents are legalized through the amnesty process. Unlike previous years, there will be no special tents or centers set up for the amnesty; instead, all procedures will be handled through authorized typing centers, which will be available starting in September.
To ensure that more expatriates are informed about the amnesty, various expatriate organizations across different countries have intensified awareness campaigns. These organizations will also set up special help desks to assist with amnesty applications.
