Abu Dhabi: The inaugural Political Consultation Committee between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) of the UAE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland was held on 17th November at the ministry’s Abu Dhabi headquarters.
Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, and Mr. Kai Sauer, Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Security Policy, in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, presided over the session.

The meeting reviewed the bilateral relationship and discussed the possibilities to strengthen ties through collaboration on shared interests, including economic development, technological advancement, climate change, and international peacekeeping.
Both the parties agreed on specific measures to enhance and expand trade and economic relationships, including opportunities to boost business-to-business ties and cooperate on those issues in the run-up to COP28, which the UAE will host in Dubai in 2023 in Expo city Dubai.
The nations emphasized their shared commitment to tackling the climate change problem and improving climate security.

The Committee also examined the state of world politics, taking into account the most recent regional changes in the Middle East and Europe. Both countries expressed their shared commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the role that regional and international organizations can play in that regard.
The session was concluded by emphasizing the importance of real, actionable outcomes from their consultations and a continuous review process to make sure agreed-upon targets are met.
