Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, to discuss the UAE’s relationship with the European Union and its member states.
His Highness welcomed Mr. Michel, emphasizing the strong ties between the UAE and the European Union and the shared commitment to peace and development at regional and global levels. The discussion also covered the upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council-European Union summit in October, highlighting its importance in advancing economic and developmental relations.
Key regional issues, including the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, were also addressed. Both leaders stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza to allow humanitarian aid and emphasized the importance of a stable peace process based on the two-state solution. They agreed on the necessity of international efforts to prevent the expansion of conflicts that threaten regional security.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE’s support for peace and stability in the region and its commitment to cooperating with the European Union to enhance the humanitarian response in Gaza. Charles Michel praised the UAE’s role in Gulf-European cooperation and its humanitarian efforts in Gaza, reaffirming the European Union’s dedication to strengthening ties with the UAE.
The meeting was attended by key UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and a number of European Union officials.
