Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has carried out its 23rd humanitarian evacuation flight in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO). This mission enabled the transfer of 55 critically wounded individuals and patients, including children and cancer patients in urgent need of advanced medical care, from the Gaza Strip to the UAE via Ramon Airport in Israel and the Karam Abu Salam crossing.
The evacuees were accompanied by 72 family members. This operation is part of an initiative launched in October 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, to provide medical treatment to 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza. To date, 2,254 patients and family members have been evacuated to the UAE under this program.
The initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian efforts, showcasing its steadfast dedication to supporting Palestinians with the ongoing crisis in Gaza. UAE authorities continue to promote various lines of humanitarian aid to handle urgent needs.
In addition to evacuation efforts, the UAE has executed significant healthcare support for Gaza. Since operations began on December 2nd, 2023, a UAE field hospital in the southern Gaza Strip has treated 50,489 patients. Furthermore, the UAE’s floating hospital, stationed at Al-Arish Port since February 2024, has provided medical care to 8,597 individuals.
The UAE has also delivered approximately 50,000 tons of essential aid, including food, medical supplies, and relief items, to the Palestinian people during this challenging period. These efforts reflect the UAE’s dedication to extending critical support and solidarity to the people of Gaza.
