Cairo (Capital of Egypt): The United Arab Emirates chaired the 114th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (AESC) at the League of Arab States’ General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE Minister of Economy, led the ministerial meeting, focusing on improving joint Arab cooperation in both economic and social spheres.
Discussions during the session included strategies to implement decisions from previous meetings, in light of current regional and global challenges. Bin Touq expressed gratitude to Yousef Alshamali, Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, for his dedicated efforts during Jordan’s presidency of the previous session. He also thanked Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, for organizing the current session.
Highlighting the importance of the AESC, Abdullah bin Touq stated: “The meeting of the current session of the Council is an important platform to push development efforts among member states to higher levels, contributing to the growth of joint development activities and achieving Arab economic and social integration.”
The discussions centered on identifying new economic and development opportunities, which are critical to the growth and sustainability of Arab economies.
