Abu Dhabi: On November 1st, the UAE proudly celebrates its 12th annual Flag Day, bringing together citizens and residents in a vibrant display of national pride and unity.
The UAE flag embodies the values of justice, peace, tolerance, strength, and moderation, creating an environment where all Emiratis can lead dignified lives while enjoying security and stability. This reflects the enduring legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Flag Day in the UAE was established in 2013 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to commemorate the accession of the late President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who became President in 2004.
Since its inception, Flag Day has become an important annual event in the UAE calendar, celebrated on November 3rd each year. With the date falling on a Sunday this year, Sheikh Mohammed has called on the public to raise the flag on November 1st to ensure as many people as possible can show their support.
In a post shared on his X account, Sheikh Mohammed wrote that, “Brothers and Sisters, as we do every year, we come together to celebrate Flag Day — an occasion to honor the nation’s flag, the symbol of our country, the secret of our strength, and the source of our pride.”
The post added that, “We call upon all ministries and institutions across the country to raise the UAE flag on the first of November at 11 am, united in our feelings and purpose. We encourage all Emirati citizens to participate in this occasion — a time to express our love for this country, our loyalty to this flag, and our renewed determination to uphold the banner of our Union, pledging to keep it flying high, representing the glory of the UAE.”
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, extended her warmest congratulations on Flag Day.
This cherished tradition not only honors the nation’s flag but also reinforces the values of unity and patriotism among the Emirati community.
