Abu Dhabi: Tawazun Council, the government entity that works closely with the UAE Armed Forces, security agencies and Abu Dhabi Police, announced the issuance of Testing and Qualification UAE Standards for Small Calibre Ammunition.
The UAE Standards, which will be based on globally recognised norms like NATO standards, are intended to guarantee the reliability and security of small-calibre ammunition in the UAE. The UAE Standards will be released and put into use over the subsequent six months.
The Tawazun Council has accredited Proof House, a section of the TIP-based Tawazun Testing and Quality Centre (TTQC), to test and confirm the efficiency and security of munitions in compliance with global standards. For small calibre ammunition, the Type Approval, confirmed and released by the Proof House, will be a necessity for any contract for the purchase of defence and security products as well as for product licencing for export and import control.
In line with the Tawazun Council’s mandate to control the import, export, exploitation, and disposal of technology, defence, and security products, Mr. Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani expressed the Council’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety in defence and security products.
The skilled group of experts at Proof House makes sure that all testing methods follow global standards and laws. The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art testing tools and infrastructure, enabling it to put a variety of ammunition and other defence and military gear to the test.
Proof House, a unit of the TTQC, is a pioneer in its field in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It tests and validates small-calibre ammunition using cutting-edge technology, making it one of the top test facilities in the world.
