Cascais, Portugal: Leading the National Olympic Committee’s delegation, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the Committee, attended the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). The assembly, held as part of the ANOC meeting series, took place in Cascais, Portugal, from October 30 to November 1.
The Committee’s delegation included Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee, and Major General Dr. Muhammad Al Mur, a member of the Committee’s Board of Directors.
The meeting began with a tribute to several late sports leaders who had made impactful contributions to the Olympic movement. International Olympic Committee President Dr. Thomas Bach then addressed delegates representing various national Olympic committees from around the world.
Key agenda items included approval of the minutes from the 26th General Assembly, held in Seoul in 2022, along with reports from the ANOC President and Secretary-General.
The assembly also reviewed the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games, updates from the Indonesian Olympic Committee, recent ANOC Executive Board decisions, a visual presentation from continental sports federations, the final report from the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics organizing committee, and an update on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Participants received updates from the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Testing Agency, and presentations by Deloitte and the Centre for Digital Leadership. An overview of the ANOC TV Digital Acceleration Program was also provided.
The assembly further reviewed reports from various ANOC committees and working groups, updates from the organizing committees of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, a report from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and insights into ANOC’s sustainability strategy, commercial opportunities, and strategic plan. Additionally, members received an update from the International World Games Association.
