Abu Dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), held discussions with Dileita Mohamed Dileita, Speaker of the National Assembly of Djibouti, focusing on enhancing parliamentary diplomacy through increased cooperation and consultation on issues of mutual interest. The meeting, held at the FNC’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the UAE and Djibouti across various fields.
Maryam Majid bin Theneya, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, and several other FNC members were also present at the meeting. During the discussions, Saqr Ghobash welcomed the Djiboutian delegation and emphasised the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Djibouti, which are grounded in mutual respect and joint action on regional and international matters.
Ghobash highlighted the commitment of the UAE’s leadership to further developing these relations to achieve the developmental goals of both nations, bringing prosperity to their peoples. He underscored the FNC’s dedication to fostering communication and cooperation with global parliaments and parliamentary organisations, recognising the critical role of parliaments in representing their citizens.
The talks also focused on the importance of unifying positions and approaches in regional and international forums, as well as exchanging parliamentary knowledge and experiences. Dileita Mohamed Dileita echoed the significance of the relationship between the two countries and stressed the need for strengthened cooperation, particularly in parliamentary affairs, which play a vital role in promoting cultural dialogue.
