Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has signed Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024, officially launching the UAE Aid Agency. The agency, affiliated with the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, will serve as an independent entity with full legal authority to manage humanitarian aid initiatives globally.
The UAE Aid Agency is entrusted with managing and overseeing the country’s foreign aid programs, concentrating on disaster relief, early recovery efforts, post-conflict stabilization, development, and capacity-building projects. Its mandate includes planning, executing, and monitoring government-led assistance to handle international humanitarian challenges.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized the agency’s role in resuming the humanitarian legacy established by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed stated that, “The UAE remains determined to global humanitarian causes and sustainable development, strengthening our nation’s dedication to these values under the supervision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.”
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored the agency’s pivotal role in providing essential aid across the world. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stated that, “The UAE’s humanitarian leadership resumes to address pressing global needs, improving living essentials and fostering sustainable growth worldwide.”
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, underscored the strategic focus of the new agency. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed stated that, “The UAE Aid Agency will enhance the country’s humanitarian impact, providing coordinated and effective assistance across regions facing crises.”
The UAE is globally recognized for its humanitarian efforts, having contributed over US$98 billion (AED 360 billion) in foreign assistance since its founding. This aid has funded over one billion people worldwide, solidifying the nation’s prestige as one of the world’s leading donor countries.
