Abu Dhabi: Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has won the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) title with a victory over the US Open champion Emma Raducanu, at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City.
The Tunisian player retained her title in the women’s match on Day 1 of the 14th edition, with a 5-7, 6-3, (10)-(8) victory over Raducanu and became the first woman to win back-to-back MWTC title.
Ons Jabeur is also the first Arab to play at and win the MWTC title.

I tried to remember to have a bit more fun on the court because that’s when I played my best and I did that. There were a lot of Arab people out there supporting me and that was great, it was so much fun. This is my second year coming here, I really enjoy playing on this court, I’m ready to come back next year.
Ms. Jabeur commented.
The runner up of the championship, Emma Raducanu, shared that “I have had an amazing experience, really enjoyed playing on this court in a great environment. So impressed. The fans were cheering Ons a bit more, but I like that. It was great fun. I was happy with my performance, and it was a good playing against Ons in a really enjoyable atmosphere.”

In the meantime, Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Cameron Norrie 6-1, 6-4, to secure a semi-final against Norway’s Casper Ruud in the men’s MWTC.
In another men’s quarterfinal of the championship, defending MWTC winner Andrey Rublev moved a step closer to retaining his title with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Croatia’s Borna Coric and will meet World No. 1, Carlos Alcaraz, in the semifinal.
