Abu Dhabi, UAE: TRENDS Hub Scientific Research Award has announced the winners at a ceremony held in Abu Dhabi, recognizing outstanding contributions to scientific research across various fields. The award, established by TRENDS Research & Advisory, aims to encourage and celebrate excellence in research that addresses key global challenges.
This year’s awards saw a diverse group of researchers from around the world honored for their innovative work in areas such as climate change, artificial intelligence, public health, and social sciences. The winning projects were selected based on their originality, impact, and potential to advance knowledge and solutions in their respective fields.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, praised the winners for their dedication and ingenuity, emphasizing the importance of scientific research in shaping the future. “These awards highlight the critical role that research plays in addressing the complex issues facing our world today. The insights and solutions developed by these talented researchers will help guide our societies toward a more sustainable and prosperous future,” Al-Ali said.
The award’s prestigious Advisory Committee, featuring Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Prof. Mark Tessler, Co-founder and Co-Principal Investigator of the Arab Barometer, chose three winners for the Arabic category and three for the English category. These selections were made from a pool of 78 research papers submitted across four distinct fields.
In the Arabic category, the first prize was awarded to Samah Al-Baradai from the University of Tunis, Tunisia, for “Cultural and Social Issues”. The second prize went to Yasser Qteishat from Jordan for “Technology and Artificial Intelligence”. The third prize was awarded to Nidaa El-Sayed from Cairo University, Egypt, for “Economic, Development, Climate and Sustainability Issues”.
In the English category, the first prize was awarded to Maryam Al-Saeedi from Zayed University for “Technology and Artificial Intelligence”. Mohammed Al-Azaizeh, also from Zayed University, received the second prize for “Cultural and Social Issues”. The third prize was awarded to Asma Al-Afifi for “Cultural and Social Issues”.
The top three winners in both the Arabic and English categories will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and a Financial Incentive Award (first winner: $5,000, second winner: $3,000, third winner: $2,000). The winning research papers will be published on TRENDS’ digital and social media platforms.
The ceremony also featured keynote addresses by leading academics and industry experts, who discussed the evolving landscape of research and the need for collaboration across disciplines to tackle global challenges effectively.
