About the Paralympic Games
The Paralympic Games are a major international multisport event for athletes with disabilities. Since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, they have been held shortly after the corresponding Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and feature athletes with a wide range of disabilities from around the world. The Paralympics originated in 1948 as a small event for British WWII veterans and have since grown into one of the largest sporting events globally.
The UAE’s participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games not only highlights the country’s commitment to supporting athletes with disabilities but also demonstrates the nation’s dedication to promoting inclusivity in sports on a global stage.
