Dubai: 13.6 million+ people in 37 Countries have benefited from initiatives undertaken by Suqia UAE in 2021, Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE-based not-for-profit remarked during the organization’s 1st Board Member Meet in 2022.
During the virtual meet, Mr. Al Tayer pointed out the efforts undertaken by UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia) to implement developmental projects and provide drinking water for societies facing water scarcity and pollution.
Apart from local and global organizations, Suqia UAE partnered with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH), Dar Al Ber Society and Dubai Cares to execute these Initiatives.
Other members who took part at the Board Member meet included;

- Arif Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of the Khalifa University of Science and Technology

- Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence at DEWA
- Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Suqia UAE and

THE DISCUSSION POINTS
The gathering of Board Members reviewed the proposed budget for Suqia UAE’s humanitarian projects for the year 2022, the campaign during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in addition to the developments of the 3rd Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, which attracted participants from 56 countries around the world, with a total prize of $1 million.
The Award motivates research institutions, individuals, and innovators from all over the world to find new and innovative technologies for the production, distribution, storage, control, purification, and desalination of water using renewable energy.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees pointed out that Suqia UAE has strengthened its efforts over the past two years to help those in need around the world, especially who suffered the most during the COVID-19 pandemic.
