Sharjah: The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, has inaugurated the second forum for twinning Arab universities. Organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the event focuses on “Green Entrepreneurship and Voluntary Environmental Teams in Arab Universities – Prospects for Cooperation.”
Running from November 20 to 22, the ‘Twinning of Arab Universities’ forum aims to foster partnership among Arab universities in promoting sustainability and addressing climate change challenges. Key discussions include integrating green entrepreneurship into academic institutions, building voluntary environmental teams, and promoting sustainability initiatives among students.
A significant highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Sharjah and ALECSO. This agreement paves the way for improved cooperation in research, academic development, and community service. The event also celebrated the ALECSO Award for Creativity and Innovation, recognizing outstanding contributions by researchers and institutions in green entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Representatives from UNESCO, regional youth organizations, and sustainability experts participated, enhancing the forum with diverse perspectives. The event builds on the success of its inaugural edition in Tunis, further boosting ties among Arab universities.
By bringing together educational leaders and stakeholders, the forum underscores the significance of joint efforts in tackling environmental challenges and fostering innovation in the Arab world.
