In today’s era of advanced mobile technology, it’s common for people to have numerous apps on their smartphones. Among these, social media apps are some of the most fundamental and indispensable tools that keep users connected with friends, family, and the global community.
As technologies like big data and artificial intelligence continue to develop, online social platforms are also evolving rapidly. From the early days of MSN Messenger to modern apps like Tinder, Bumble, and SUGO, social apps have become more diverse, intelligent, and efficient, making it easier than ever to connect with like-minded people.
Launched in 2021, SUGO is one of the fastest-growing social apps focused on delivering a ‘companionship-centric’ social experience. With features like text messaging, voice chat rooms, and video calling, SUGO meets the needs of young people seeking diverse and meaningful ways to connect.
Notably, the platform has seen impressive growth in recent years. In the first half of 2024, SUGO’s monthly revenue exceeded $10 million USD, reflecting a year-over-year increase of more than 250%. Originally launched in the Middle East and North Africa, SUGO has since expanded its presence to Turkey, Southeast Asia, and Chinese-speaking markets.
In celebration of its third anniversary, SUGO hosted a series of events around the globe. From June 21 to 23, the platform organized a three-day street market festival at the Taipei 101 Fountain Plaza. The event featured performances from famous artists like Patrick Brasca, Shadow Project, and SOWUT, with an impressive lineup of renowned DJs, hip-hop artists, and musicians taking the stage one after another.
Attendees enjoyed live music, gourmet food, fine wines, shopping, and the chance to connect with new friends during this party. The festival also brought together some of Taipei’s most popular bars, restaurants, and trendy brands. Participants who interacted on the SUGO app in real time had the opportunity to enter a raffle for exclusive mystery gift boxes—and maybe even meet someone special.
In July, the celebrations moved to Istanbul, Turkey, attracting over 60 guests, including local content creators and guild partners. SUGO honored outstanding creators with generous rewards, further strengthening its community connections.
SUGO’s rising popularity in the Taiwan region and Turkey is unmistakable. According to recent data from Data.ai, SUGO ranks as the second highest-grossing app on Taiwan’s iOS chart, just behind the region’s leading communication app, Line. In Turkey, SUGO also holds the second spot on Google Play’s top-grossing chart, following TikTok.
For young people looking to expand their social experiences and connect globally, SUGO offers an exciting and innovative platform that’s truly worth exploring.
