Dubai: A tragic accident on Hatta-Lehbab Road claimed the life of a student and left 11 others injured after a vehicle lost control and overturned. The Dubai Police attributed the incident to overspeeding, distracted driving, and driver negligence.
According to initial police investigations, the vehicle suddenly swerved, collided with an iron barrier, and flipped over onto the sandy area beside the highway. The accident occurred on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from Dubai Police emergency teams, who rushed to the scene. The injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, highlighted the critical factors leading to the accident. He stressed the importance of selecting responsible and skilled drivers for transporting children to and from school. “Drivers must be fully aware of road safety regulations and possess the necessary skills to ensure the safety of all passengers,” Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei stated.
He also cautioned against exceeding the vehicle’s passenger capacity, emphasizing that regular maintenance checks are essential to keep vehicles in optimal condition. “Neglecting these safety measures can have severe consequences,” he warned.
Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei issued a stern reminder to motorists to avoid driving when fatigued or drowsy, noting that tiredness can severely impair a driver’s concentration and reaction time. “Long working hours can lead to fatigue, which significantly increases the risk of accidents,” he added.
The Dubai Police continue to advocate for adherence to traffic regulations, emphasizing that responsible driving practices are crucial for preventing such tragic incidents. The authorities urge all motorists to prioritize safety and remain vigilant while on the road, particularly in areas with high traffic and potential hazards.
