Abu Dhabi: The Department of Community Development (DCD), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Department of Education and Knowledge, and the Emirates Schools Establishment, has introduced the “Sportsmanship Values” initiative. The program is designed to promote a positive and respectful sports environment throughout Abu Dhabi.
Promoting respect and Ethical behavior
The initiative encourages widespread participation in sports and physical activities while promoting mutual respect across diverse cultures. It enhances sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and positive conduct in both competitive and recreational sports.
The innovative program aims to position Abu Dhabi as a global leader in sports excellence while maintaining an inclusive sports environment.
Vision of healthy, active community
Mohamed Helal Al Balooshi, Executive Director of the Community Engagement and Sports Sector at DCD emphasized that, “The Sportsmanship Values reflect the core values of Abu Dhabi society, which are based on respect, positivity, and strong morals. The initiative embodies the vision of our leadership, which fully supports athletes and encourages sports for all.”
“Sports activity is key to building a healthy society, and the DCD works closely with its partners to enhance the culture of physical activity, supporting both competitive and recreational events,” Al Balooshi remarked.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, highlighted the Council’s support of the initiative and its values of tolerance and coexistence as promoted by the UAE leadership.
Additionally, Sulaiman Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Students’ Wellbeing Sector, stressed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to integrating sportsmanship values within the school curriculum.
The “Sportsmanship Values” initiative calls on all sports entities and professionals in Abu Dhabi to adopt and promote values such as respect, safety, fairness, dignity, solidarity, and excellence.
