Dubai: A five-year internal road plan (2025-2029) has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
This comprehensive plan includes 21 projects across 12 residential, commercial, and industrial areas, totaling 634 km of new roads with an estimated cost of Dh3.7 billion ($1bn).
Infrastructure and Urban expansion
The plan reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to improve infrastructure in key residential and industrial areas to meet Dubai’s expanding population and urban growth. The projects will also contribute to enhancing the well-being and happiness of residents across the city.
Key areas and Project details
2025: Roads will be developed in Nad El Sheba 3 and Al Amardi, serving the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment project with 482 housing units. Additional roads will be built in Hatta, supporting 100 housing units from the same housing initiative.
2026: In this year, 92 km of internal roads will be developed in Nadd Hessa and Al Awir 1.
2027: Roads will be constructed across 45 km in Al Athbah, Mushrif, and Hatta, with an additional 14 km planned for Warsan 3 Industrial Area.
2028: One of the longest internal road projects will span 284 km across Al Awir 1, Wadi Al Amardi, and Hind 3, with a major portion (221 km) dedicated to Al Awir 1.
2029: The plan will conclude with the construction of 200 km of roads in Hind 4 and Al Yalayis 5, including 161 km in Al Yalayis 5.

RTA’s commitment
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of RTA, emphasized the authority’s commitment to providing smooth and safe access for residents and visitors.
By the end of 2023, RTA had completed over 6,000 km of roads in residential and industrial areas.
Recent and Ongoing projects
Since 2011, RTA has paved roads in 28 residential and industrial areas. Notable 2023-2024 projects include the construction of 83 km of internal roads in 17 areas, such as Al Warqa 4, Al Qusais Industrial, and Hatta’s Suhaila, Saeir, and Al Salami areas. Ongoing works are taking place in areas like Jebel Ali Industrial, Nazwa, Al Khawaneej 2, and Al Awir.
