Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with UK Prime Minister Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi during the Prime Minister’s working visit to the UAE.
Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, advancing shared development ambitions, and enhancing the prosperity of both nations.
Prime Minister Starmer congratulated His Highness on the UAE’s 53rd Eid Al Etihad, extending wishes for continued progress and success.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering ties and expanding collaborative efforts in the coming years, building on the historical relationship between their countries.
Key topics included regional and global matters of mutual concern, with a particular emphasis on developments in the Middle East.
Both leaders underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomatic solutions in resolving crises and reiterated their shared dedication to promoting peace, security, and stability at regional and global levels.
The meeting was attended by prominent UAE figures, including H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.
Other attendees included Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun, Advisor to the UAE President; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; and Mansour Abdullah Khalfan Belhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK.
As part of his visit to Abu Dhabi, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, accompanied by UAE Ambassador to the UK Mansour Belhoul Al Falasi, UK Ambassador to the UAE, Edward Hobart, and other officials.
Guided by Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, the delegation explored the mosque’s halls and learned about its cultural message of coexistence, tolerance, and unity. They also admired its architectural beauty and unique Islamic art, reflecting a harmonious blend of global influences.
Prime Minister Starmer praised the mosque as a symbol of shared human values and highlighted the deep ties between the UAE and the UK, emphasizing their cooperation in fostering cultural and religious harmony.
The visit concluded with a gift presentation, including a book, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: A Light of Peace, and a compass inspired by the mosque’s iconic chandeliers.
