Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, issued Executive Council Resolution No. (49) of 2024 to regulate healthcare activities and professions in Dubai. The resolution applies to all healthcare establishments and professionals within Dubai, including special development zones, free zones, and the Dubai International Financial Centre.
The resolution seeks to create a comprehensive, high-quality healthcare system in Dubai. It promotes operational efficiency, safeguards the community from unethical practices, and upholds transparency and legal accountability.
Under the resolution, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is tasked with regulating and overseeing healthcare providers, developing healthcare policies, and ensuring compliance. DHA can investigate complaints against healthcare professionals, impose penalties, and refer violations to the Medical Practice Committee.
Healthcare facilities and professionals are required to obtain permits from DHA to operate in Dubai. Unlicensed professionals or visiting doctors cannot be employed without prior approval. Licenses are valid for one year, with renewals subject to DHA conditions.
The resolution grants the DHA Director General and Medical Practice Committee the authority to close healthcare facilities or suspend professionals pending investigations. It replaces Resolution No. (32) of 2012 and will come into effect 60 days after issuance.
This new regulation ensures that Dubai’s healthcare system continues to operate at the highest standards, providing reliable and efficient services to its residents.
