Abu Dhabi: The Liwa International Festival 2025 (LIWA 2025) has kicked off in the Al Dhafra Region, delivering 23 days of action-packed events, cultural showcases, and entertainment for visitors from around the world, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Hamdan, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Yas bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other dignitaries, toured the festival’s highlights, including sports venues, camping grounds, and cultural activities. Senior officials such as Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and other key representatives from Abu Dhabi’s tourism and municipal sectors were also present.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan explored Liwa Village, home to vibrant cultural and artistic programs, and witnessed attractions like the Monster Jam truck show, Hollywood Circus, and the Classic Cars exhibition. The festival’s opening ceremony featured the premiere of a commemorative film, a spectacular fireworks display, and thrilling versions on the iconic Liwa sand dunes.
Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Liwa Sports Club, Al Dhafra Municipality, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Media Network, and Miral, LIWA 2025 aims to position the Al Dhafra region as a premier winter destination. The event attracts a diverse audience, from motorsports lovers and traditional sports fans to adventurers and families seeking entertainment with the stunning desert landscapes of Liwa.
The festival offers an extensive range of activities, including fireworks, live music, desert adventures, and unique lodging options. Visitors can experience luxurious lodgings, traditional Sadu tents, and safari-style setups. The event’s mix of sports competitions and cultural experiences guarantees something for everyone.
