Abu Dhabi: HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Gideon Sa’ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, in Abu Dhabi.
HH Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Minister Sa’ar and held discussions on strengthening the bilateral relations between the UAE and Israel.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with both parties discussing the latest developments in the region and the importance of regional and international efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire.
HH Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for a serious political horizon to resume peace negotiations based on the two-state solution, which would bring stability, sustainable security, and an end to escalating violence in the region.
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the priority of securing a permanent ceasefire, reducing tensions, protecting civilian lives, and ensuring the flow of essential humanitarian aid to Gaza.
HH stressed that the Middle East is facing unprecedented instability, calling for enhanced international collaboration to address extremism, violence, and tension, while also promoting a path of peace, prosperity, and development for the region.
The UAE Minister reiterated the UAE’s support for the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to broker a prisoner exchange agreement that could lead to a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.
Sheikh Abdullah underlined the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, their right to self-determination, and their ongoing struggle for dignity and peace.
Additionally, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah called for global efforts to combat extremism, hatred, and racism while promoting tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity.
The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; and Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel.
