Sharjah: H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has highlighted the important role of the emirate’s nature reserves as havens for wildlife rather than mere recreational spaces for public access.
During his participation in the “Direct Line” program, a radio show between Sharjah Ruler and residents, Sheikh Sultan underlined that these natural reserves are essential for preserving the fragile balance of ecosystems, protecting wild plants, trees, animals, insects, and reptiles.
The Ruler of Sharjah indicated that the resources function as essential havens for endangered species, including diverse birds, insects, and reptiles, emphasizing that unrestricted public access could threaten their safety.
In addition, Sheikh Sultan declared a forthcoming environmental initiative along Al Dhaid Road, which will feature a vast fenced space where camels, goats, sheep, and horses can roam freely. Visitors will have assigned parking spaces to watch these animals in their natural habitat.
Sheikh Sultan restated the significance of protecting Sharjah’s unique natural reserves, including species found solely in the emirate. He called on residents to honor and respect the environment, reaffirming his long-standing commitment to conservation efforts since 1972.
The Sharjah Ruler was finalized by emphasizing the significance of maintaining the natural balance within the reserves, where wildlife can thrive without human interference.
