Sharjah: Sharjah’s media entities have revealed a dynamic agenda for the third Global Media Congress, set to take place in Abu Dhabi from 26th to 28th November 2024. Over the course of three days, the emirate will host 21 interactive sessions, workshops, and debates, seeking to spotlight its leadership in media innovation, cultural development, and knowledge sharing.
The participation is led by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), and Sharjah Media City (Shams), who aim to showcase the emirate’s unique media identity and groundbreaking assistance to the industry.
Director-General of SBA, Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, emphasized that Sharjah’s evolving media strategy aligns with global advancements, using cutting-edge tools to build exceptional content. Mohammed Hassan Khalaf explained the Global Media Congress as an essential forum for partnership and knowledge exchange in the media sector. Similarly, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of SGMB, underlined that Sharjah’s participation reflects its dedication to bolstering the UAE’s media landscape while presenting its achievements on a global stage. Meanwhile, Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of Shams, reaffirmed the city’s dedication to certifying media professionals through innovative projects like Shams Studios, which is poised to become a regional hub for creativity.
The Sharjah Pavilion’s agenda includes key dialogues, entitled “From Innovation to Application: Education in Sharjah is a Pioneering Global Model.” The session on Sharjah’s pioneering educational model, featuring experts like Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashmi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Head of the Sharjah Education Academy, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, and Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah. Media figure Dr. Abdul Salam Al Hammadi will moderate the session.
Another important session entitled “Scientific Journalism in the Arab Media”, will see the participation of Hussein Al Moosawi, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Al Arabiya, and Abdul Latif Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Sayegh Media Company. Media Professional Mariam Fikri will moderate the session.
A discussion on sustainable food security will bring together Dr. Engineer Khalifa Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Resources in Sharjah, and Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority.
Artificial intelligence will also take center stage, with Moaz Saleh Al-Omari, CEO of AIZATION, leading a session on AI’s transformative role in media. Workshops on cutting-edge topics like drone applications, social media content creation, and scenario writing will be conducted by industry experts, including Ahmed Khalifa, Younis Al Hosani, and screenwriter Mohammed Hassan Ahmed.
Another interactive session entitled “Reading a Book: A Guide to Government Communication Governance” is presented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Farouk, a member of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum, describing the basic concepts of government communication and the importance of governance in institutional processes.
A reading of the book “Quality of Arabic Content in the Light of the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies. Professional Automated Content Creation” will be held by Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Zaher and Dr. Sherin Moussa, members of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum.
Another interactive session titled, “The Future of Artificial Intelligence in the Media”, will be headlined by Moaz Saleh Al-Omari, CEO of AIZATION for Artificial Intelligence Services and Products. He will examine the experience of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), in beating the Sharjah Government Communication Award, in the category of Best Government Communication Targeting Youth, with Alia Saif Al-Shamsi, Head of Marketing at Sheraa, consulting the whole experience.

Yet another debate will feature graduates of the Ithmar media training program for children and youth, organized by the Sharjah Press Club, under the title “Social Communication and the New Generation: Platforms for Shaping or Destroying Values?”
Through the “Shams Talks” podcast, Shams offers a series of engaging discussions, alongside “Innovate with Shams” AI platform, which will analyze the future of media content in the era of artificial intelligence.
The Sharjah Pavilion will present a cultural highlight through the Sharjah Museums Authority’s exhibition, “Artefacts from Sharjah Museums,” which reflects the emirate’s rich history and scientific heritage. Additionally, interactive sessions will explore themes like social platforms’ influence on youth values and AI-driven media content creation.
Sharjah’s participation highlights its commitment to fostering innovation, promoting cultural exchange, and thickening its position as a global media leader.
