Sharjah: HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Energy Council, led the Council’s first meeting.
The session was held at the Office of the ruler and was attended by prominent officials, including HH Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of Sharjah National Oil Corporation.
During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan welcomed the Council members and commended them for their appointments, expressing gratitude for the trust bestowed upon them by HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The mission of the Council to develop strategies that ensure a sustainable energy future for Sharjah and the UAE was highlighted.
Key discussions centered around sustainable planning for the energy and water sectors, focusing on effective and forward-looking solutions that encourage the adoption of alternative and renewable energy sources. The Council outlined a framework to promote sustainability in energy production, aligning with the emirate’s broader economic goals.
A significant part of the meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between government entities and private sector players in the energy field, aimed at strengthening Sharjah’s economic growth by diversifying energy sources. This approach is designed to deliver reliable, high-quality energy in an environmentally responsible way.
The Council also stressed the value of adopting global best practices and learning from successful international models to drive innovation and efficiency in Sharjah’s energy sector.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Oil Department; Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority; Waleed Ibrahim Al Sayegh, Director-General of the Central Finance Department; and Hatem Diab Al Mousa, Secretary-General of the Energy Council.
