Chad: Under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and within the framework of the Poetry Fora in Africa Initiative, the third edition of the Arab Poetry Forum in Chad has been launched.
Thirty male and female poets will participate in the two-day Forum, which is organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture’s Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Chadian Creative Pioneers Association.
The Wara Governorate’s Al Shafi Abu, the Secretary-General of the Chadian State of Ouday, Abkar Hussein, the State of Ouday’s Culture Delegate, Othman Hamdan Azib, the General Coordinator of the Forum, Dr. Ahmed Abu Al Fath Othman, the head of the critics committee from the capital, N’Djamena, Dr. Hamza Ahmadai Musa, as well as instructors, students, and readers of Arabic poetry attended the forum in Absha.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Al-Fath Othman, said in a speech he delivered that “the forum strengthens the cultural and literary presence in Chad”, stressing that the visions of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah are beacons for spreading Arab culture through poetic and literary fora and major cultural events in Africa.
Othman emphasized that Sharjah, with the strict supervision of the Department of Culture in the Emirate of Sharjah, has brought back the Arabic language to Africa based on His Highness’s vow to propagate Arabic as the original human language.
Othman continued, “The Sharjah Department of Culture played a major role in the success of this cultural event by supporting Chad with thoughts and directives, working hard to implement His Highness’s directives, and providing fruitful experiences.”
Poet Abdel Daim Abdullah Musa stressed in his speech that the forum serves as a starting point for many creatives in the Republic of Chad and that it fortifies the bonds between the various poets of Chad and poets around the world. He also praised Sharjah for its great role in promoting culture, particularly Arabic language culture, in Africa through a variety of activities.
