Sharjah: The Sharjah Book Authority has announced that the much-awaited 14th annual Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) will be held from May 3rd to 14th at Expo Centre Sharjah.
Leading publishers, writers, poets, illustrators, and other creatives will come together at the festival to provide an exciting agenda of cultural and artistic programs, including discussions, seminars, and live performances that will enthral and educate audiences of all ages.
Mr. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of SBA, cited that the festival embodies the vision of Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the directives of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), to invest in the younger generations and equip them with knowledge and skill sets they will need to lead the nation.
“The festival is a continuation of Sharjah’s efforts to raise awareness among the younger generations about the importance of reading, and also connect them with the right opportunities to discover their talents through SCRF’s diverse programming agenda,” Mr. Al Ameri added.
The annual festival aims to foster intellectual growth and character development in young people while also giving professionals in the field a forum to exchange knowledge and expertise and help define the industry’s future. The SCRF’s general coordinator, Ms. Khoula Al Mujaini, said that the future edition will continue to support the growth of children’s literature. She further disclosed that the 14th edition will have a jam-packed schedule of activities, performances, and seminars to let kids and teenagers freely express their creativity and use their skills.
