Sharjah: The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) has announced two categories that put social values and cultural pride at the forefront: Best Communication Practice in Supporting Social Responsibility and Best Campaign Promoting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language.
These new focus areas strengthen SGCA’s role as a global platform for impactful government communication.
Submissions for SGCA 2025 are open until July 24 through the official award portal. The winners will be honored during the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) at Expo Centre Sharjah in September.

Now in its 12th edition, SGCA continues to attract global participation, receiving more than 3,800 entries from 44 countries in 2024 alone.
Alia Bu Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, has stated that these categories reflect Sharjah’s commitment to communication that empowers communities, preserves Arabic identity, and uses media to address social challenges.
SGCA 2025 has encouraged government bodies, private sector leaders and international organizations to submit real, measurable campaigns that have delivered positive outcomes.

The Best Communication Practice in Supporting Social Responsibility will assess campaigns on ethical strategy, innovation, impact, and how they engage communities to create meaningful change.
The Best Campaign Promoting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language will honor initiatives that strengthen Arabic language use and cultural pride, especially among younger generations. Entrants are expected to demonstrate strong storytelling, modern technology use and culturally rich messages that push back against cultural dilution.
Applicants for SGCA 2025 must submit a detailed 1,000-word description, an executive summary and supporting visuals or reports that prove effectiveness. Campaigns launched or updated within the last two years are eligible, allowing for fresh, relevant ideas to stand out.
By expanding its categories, SGCA 2025 reinforces Sharjah’s leadership in championing communication that supports both people and cultural roots.
