Sharjah: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) water project in Wadi Al Helo has been completed, marking a significant step in strengthening water infrastructure in the eastern region of Sharjah.
The project has involved the extension of a main pipeline from Kalba to Wadi Al Helo, along with advanced facilities to ensure stable and high-quality drinking water supply.
According to Engineer Yousef Al Hammadi, Director of the Kalba Department at SEWA, this development forms part of Sharjah’s broader infrastructure strategy under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The project’s total investment has reached AED 43.77 million ($11.92 million). Its main components have included a new pumping station with a daily capacity of 700,000 gallons, six pumps, one ground tank, and two overhead tanks. Additionally, SEWA has installed around 20 kilometers of steel pipes and incorporated fiber optic cables to enhance monitoring and efficiency.

The newly constructed pipeline connects directly to a large concrete water tank, ensuring uninterrupted distribution. The pumping station and tanks have undergone thorough testing, cleaning, and sterilization. Despite challenges such as working on busy roads, mountainous terrain, and rainy weather, the work teams have successfully delivered the project on schedule.
This SEWA water project in Wadi Al Helo is expected to significantly improve water pressure, quality, and stability for residents in the area and nearby regions. It also supports future economic, cultural, and tourism growth, with SEWA closely monitoring local development to match water and energy needs.
Al Hammadi stated that this achievement demonstrates SEWA’s commitment to providing reliable services using modern technology and durable materials. The project not only enhances water security but also supports the emirate’s long-term development goals.
By adopting advanced infrastructure solutions, SEWA continues to ensure that communities across Sharjah benefit from consistent, safe, and sustainable access to water.
