Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has formed a new emergency and crisis management team as part of its updated strategy to strengthen preparedness and enhance government response mechanisms across the emirate.
The announcement has followed its latest meeting, chaired by HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, and attended by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council.
The decision reflects the guidance of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to further improve operational efficiency in government agencies. Under the new framework, the emergency and crisis management team will be led by the Chief of Sharjah Police and will include senior representatives from both local and federal authorities.
Members will hold positions equivalent to Director-General, ensuring decision-making authority and effective coordination during emergencies. The aim of forming the Sharjah emergency and crisis management team is to create a unified approach to tackling emergencies, crises, and disasters.

This will include implementing standard procedures, joint plans, and practice drills to ensure readiness across all government entities. The Council has emphasized that the move will improve response times, raise efficiency, and increase public safety and satisfaction.
In addition, the SEC has reviewed a plan to empower branch managers and staff in government departments, providing them with training workshops and development programs. The initiative is designed to ensure high-quality services tailored to the needs of each city in the emirate.
The Council also examined a report on traffic safety, confirming that 19,102 illegal and unlicensed motorcycles, bicycles, and electric bikes have been seized between January and August 2025. The campaign forms part of wider efforts to improve road safety.
Furthermore, the SEC reviewed feedback from the Sharjah International Airport Authority regarding suggestions submitted by the Sharjah Consultative Council. The Council stressed the importance of adopting these proposals to enhance services, support growth, and better meet community needs.
