The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) recently organised a workshop aimed at encouraging private sector companies in Sharjah to actively participate in the UAE’s Emiratisation programme. This initiative, designed to boost the recruitment of Emirati nationals, focuses on creating strategic partnerships and maximising the benefits of the programme for businesses.
During the workshop, participants learned about the strategic goals of the Emiratisation programme, particularly the role of the private sector in supporting these objectives. MoHRE representatives outlined the programme’s incentives, aimed at promoting Emirati employment and empowering national talent within private companies.
The Nafis programme was a focal point of the workshop, with MoHRE stressing its importance in increasing the competitiveness of Emirati talent and supporting institutions in meeting Emiratisation targets. Nafis offers various services, such as recruitment support and candidate recommendations, to help companies fulfil these goals.
SCCI highlighted its efforts to further Emiratisation within the private sector through initiatives like the Sharjah Gulf Emiratisation Award, which encourages businesses to adopt sustainable employment practices. Additionally, SCCI supports Emirati entrepreneurs and small businesses by providing training, development programmes, and opportunities to participate in exhibitions.
Private sector companies were briefed on the UAE’s strategic target to increase Emiratisation rates by 2% annually, with the goal of reaching 10% by 2026. The workshop also provided detailed guidance on contract types and other resources to help companies achieve these targets.
