Abu Dhabi: The SANID Program, the UAE’s National Emergency Response Volunteer Program under the Emirates Foundation, has collaborated with several Majalis and entities across the country to conduct training sessions as part of its ‘Civil Protection and Safety’ initiative.
As part of its ‘Civil Protection and Safety’ initiative, the SANID Program collaborated with Majalis and entities in the UAE to provide citizens and residents with the necessary skills and training to maintain community safety in times of crisis. The training sessions aimed to build specialized volunteer teams to safeguard their neighbourhoods. Volunteers received 2303 training hours at various locations across the UAE and expressed a 94.2 percent satisfaction rate.

Mr. Khaled Al Tenaiji, the Manager of SANID Program, emphasized the importance of the training program and stated that the initiative is part of the program’s ongoing efforts to engage thousands of volunteers across the UAE and promote a sense of shared responsibility towards society. With the ‘Civil Protection and Safety’ initiative, SANID aims to equip well-trained emergency response volunteers who can assist local and national authorities during emergencies and crises, in line with its mission for over 12 years.
“After the successful launch of its pilot phase in 2022, the initiative returned this year with four training sessions in the Northern Emirates. In addition, it held two others in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These sessions were held in collaboration with various Majalis and entities. 384 volunteers, of which 50 percent are UAE nationals and 192 expatriates of 31 different nationalities, participated in these sessions. “This contributed to building teams well-prepared for civil protection and safety across the country,” Mr. Al Tenaiji added.
Various Majalis and entities across the UAE collaborated with SANID Program to conduct the training sessions. Al Ain University, Al Khawaneej Majlis, Mughaidir and Al Subaihiya Suburb Majalis, Ras Al Khaimah Al Bida Center, and Karat Majlis were among the locations where the training took place.
The Civil Protection and Safety training program included a range of topics such as volunteering ethics, disaster types, and effective response strategies. The training also covered first aid and how to handle injuries, as well as crowd management and other relevant skills.
