Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic improvement works at 10 school-zone locations, benefiting 27 schools across the emirate during the summer of 2025.
The project is part of RTA’s broader strategy to enhance mobility, optimize traffic flow, and improve safety in school areas. Scheduling the works during the summer break helped minimize disruption to daily traffic while ensuring the highest safety standards at the targeted sites.
The upgraded school zones include Al Warqa 1, 3, and 4; Al Safa 1; Al Barsha 1; Al Garhoud; Al Mizhar 1 and 4; Al Qusais; and Al Barsha South. Key improvements involved widening roads leading to the Al Warqa schools complex, constructing parking spaces for teaching staff and parents in Al Mizhar and Al Barsha, building new entrances and exits for several schools in Al Mizhar and Al Warqa, and installing pedestrian signals and traffic-calming measures in areas adjacent to schools.

These traffic solutions have strengthened Dubai’s road network while preserving infrastructure quality. The improvements reflect RTA’s commitment to implementing the directives of the wise leadership and keeping pace with Dubai’s rapid development and urban growth. The upgrades benefit all road users, including teaching staff, bus drivers, and parents, ensuring a safer environment across the emirate’s streets.
The enhancements have increased parking capacity at several schools by 90 percent and improved traffic flow near some schools by 25 percent to 40 percent. They underscore RTA’s ongoing efforts to advance Dubai’s infrastructure, raise traffic efficiency in school zones, and provide a seamless and safe mobility experience for school visitors while enhancing residents’ quality of life.
RTA continues to implement swift traffic solutions in school zones as part of its comprehensive 2025 strategic plan, targeting areas such as Al Barsha 1, Umm Al Sheif, Al Barsha South, and Al Warqa.

The plan also includes an operational framework for traffic management developed in coordination with Dubai Police to achieve the goals of increasing road capacity and reducing journey times for school visitors in these locations. RTA emphasizes the importance of road safety for students and urges bus drivers and parents to follow traffic rules when transporting children to and from schools.
Key guidelines include using designated pick-up and drop-off areas, avoiding random parking in spaces reserved for people of determination or emergency vehicles, stopping at school bus signals and traffic signs, reducing speed near schools, and paying close attention to student movements. Such practices contribute to providing a safe and accident-free school environment.
These completed works reflect RTA’s commitment to safe, efficient, and well-planned mobility around schools, ensuring students, staff, and parents benefit from modern infrastructure and organized traffic systems throughout Dubai.
