Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the ‘Tadreeb’ digital platform, designed to transform the way drivers are trained and qualified in the emirate.
The move is part of its wider digital transformation strategy and aligns with its vision to become the world leader in seamless and sustainable mobility. The system links all driving institutes across Dubai, fully digitizes the training and qualification journey, automates trainee assessments, and consolidates all trainee-related data into a central hub.
Providing further details, Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, said that, “The purpose of the platform is to identify the needs of trainees based on analyzed data and figures, ensuring quality training for drivers and licensing a pool of skilled, professional drivers. It also contributes to achieving the highest safety standards, enhancing performance quality, and strengthening governance processes in line with global best practices.”
“The platform utilizes the latest artificial intelligence technologies to qualify and train drivers across more than 27 training institute locations, supported by over 3,400 instructors and more than 3,000 training vehicles. Each vehicle’s route is electronically geo-tracked and linked to the main system. Serving around 250,000 trainees annually with over six million hours of training per year, the platform has operated safely since its inception, offering a seamless, fully paperless user experience,” Mahboob added.

Among its major outcomes are enhanced training quality, greater transparency and accuracy in assessments, and measurable contributions to reducing accidents and fatalities involving new drivers. The system also enhances decision-making through smart dashboards that track key training indicators, ensure complete automation of evaluation criteria and transactions, and simplify services for training permits and contracts through integration with relevant issuing authorities.
These integrations have led to a 50 percent reduction in waiting times for permits, decreased operational costs, strengthened remote monitoring via the Smart Licensing Centre, and achieved 97 percent compliance by trainers with required training stages.
RTA continues to collaborate with strategic partners to deliver safe and reliable training services, with adherence to safety and security standards remaining a central priority. The initiative has gained international recognition, as ‘Tadreeb’ is the first unified driver training platform in the world to be certified by the International Commission for Driver Testing (CIECA). Additionally, it has been honored with the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award this year.
Looking forward, RTA has outlined several development directions to ensure the platform’s sustainability and advancement for future generations. These include harnessing artificial intelligence to enhance the customer journey further, using data to personalize training experiences, and automating oversight and governance processes to strengthen compliance and service delivery.
